My First Visit

For our inquiry cycle this term we are doing WW100. My group is creating a book for our family members who served in WW1.
As part of my research I visited the Waikumete Cemetry to look at 2 of my family members in WW1. It took us a while to find them but eventually we found them. I placed a poppy on one of them and now we know we have done it.
I was a bit sad, but I was proud of what they did and I knew it was right thing to do, when I went and put the poppy down on his plaque.

Here are some photos I took of my family members:

In the future we will go and visit them every ANZAC day

Home learning; Week 9; Term 3

With term 4 approaching now is a good time to reflect on your learning

State a goal for yourself.

(Something you want to do, get better at doing, become involved with etc.)

__________________________________________________________________________________

__________________________________________________________________________________

What action(s) is required to reach this goal?

__________________________________________________________________________________

__________________________________________________________________________________

__________________________________________________________________________________

How will you know when your goal has been reached? What does it look like?

__________________________________________________________________________________

__________________________________________________________________________________

When do you expect to meet your goal?

__________________________________________________________________________________

__________________________________________________________________________________

What steps will you have to take to reach your goal?

__________________________________________________________________________________

__________________________________________________________________________________

__________________________________________________________________________________

There are often things that prevent us from reaching goals. Identify what may prevent you and what strategies you will use to confront these barriers:

Weapons of WWI

The main weapon used by British soldiers in the trenches was the bolt-action rifle. 15 rounds could be fired in a minute and a person 1,400 metres away could be killed.

Research the main infantry weapon for 2 of the other armies.

The Zeppelin, also known as blimp, was an airship that was used during the early part of the war in bombing raids by the Germans. They carried machine guns and bombs. However, they were abandoned because they were easy to shoot out of the sky.

Create a timeline to show the development of aerial warfare.
