Metai had learnt how to turn into a Kereru and an Albatross from Koro.

Metai had 7 other brothers who thought they were …

THE MAN!

They were not yet married because they couldn’t find anyone more beautiful than them.

The next day the brothers set out to go hunting, but stopped after they heard enchanting music.

It was 7 beautiful wahines, they instantly feel in love.

Metai didn’t fall in love! He knew they were fairy women.

Since the men found the wahine they didn’t hunt anymore. (Except kaimoana for their wives).

The 7 brothers were so enchanted by the ladies beauty, they didn’t eat and became weak.

Metai knew something was up! So he went to investigate!

Metai realised they were fairies and saw them turn into birds.

He turned into a Kereru and followed them.

Metai heard their plans to starve his brothers.

He rushed back home to tell his brothers what their wives planned.

At first they did not believe Metai. But then they realised it was the truth!

The brothers went to tell Koro. He knew exactly what to do!

The brothers had to catch their wives in a bird’s net and so they set off!

They found the wahines and caught them as birds. They turned back to women and pleaded “LET US OUT!”

Metai turned into an Albatross and handed the wahines to the god of the stars.

The star god was enchanted by their beauty and turned them into stars.

Late May or early June the sisters get to share their beauty with the world.
