Current Events Reading  Tasks

For each article you read complete the following tasks:

1.       Read the headline. Predict what the article will be about.

2.       Skim and scan the article. Jot down the key ideas.

3.       List all the facts in the article.

4.       Give examples of opinion in the article.

5.       Use your notes to rewrite the article in your own words.

6.       Pretend you are a news reporter. Create 5 questions you want to ask to find out more about someone or something in the article.

       Extra for experts: Research the answers to your questions.

7.       Create a glossary for 5 (technical/jargon) words used in the article.

8.       Create a collage or poster based on the article you have read.
